Live Blog - THE FINAL!

Can you call it tonight?
Who should take the crown, perform for Prince Charles and take home the hundred grand?

The final acts are:

The Cheeky Monkeys
Andrew Muir
Kate and Gin
Nemesis
Strike
Andrew Johnston
George Sampson (Go on lad!)
Faryl Smith
Escala
Signature

WOW! Check out Amanda's dress!

Back to the show... The Cheeky Monkeys are up first and after knocking Flava out of the competition last week, expectations are high. They perform to a classic from Grease and bop their little hearts out. It's all good fun and they've done really well, but it just doesn't float my boat. They have the cute factor, but there are other acts that are better all rounders. Piers says that he's 'diggin' them right now and Simon doesn't know what's come over him... "I'm not usually like this about kids, but you two have something special about you - That was great!" Three words from me... Twee but smiley!

Open your eyes Andrew! God, I just wanna shake this guy. Andrew Muir performs Imagine and the vocal is more than heartfelt. The one offputting thing is that he closes his ruddy eyes and what's with those shiny pants? Time to sack the stylist!

- Hang on, I know the song was a risk but I thought Andrew still had charisma and great vocals. Amanda and Simon have slated him, that's BANG out of order... Simon says that he's "blown it" and Amanda thinks he "murdered it". What utter rubbish! Praise be to Piers Morgan, "Andrew take no notice to what they say. It's up to the public now". Simon tries to rant on about the song choice, but Andrew is quick to defend himself. "I didn't want to sing that song, I was given it. It was out of my hands". Simon doesn't look too impressed that Andrew has fought back. Our loveable plumber has obviously had issues with the producers over the song and has been pushed to sing it... Should that be allowed?

What's going on with Dec's collar?

Speaking of collars, here's Kate and Gin and they're performing the routine from their first audition with some new tricks! The 007 theme tune rings out and you just can't help smiling. There's a backwards flip, a walk-over and Gin even jumps over Kate's head. It's adorable every time she jumps in Kate's arms. Can an animal actually win this thing? I love this dog! Kate is beaming from ear to ear and it just doesn't get boring. They both obviously enjoy what they're doing and love each other dearly... The receive a standing ovation and even SImon and Amanda take to their feet! Simon commends Kate tonight, "I know you're a nervous person and it's been all about the dog. You have to have a special bond and real talent to get the dog to do what she does. It was fantastic!" Piers agrees and thinks that Gin has thrown down the 'animal gauntlet' to the humans - Beat that!

No, no, no... Nemesis are up next and I'm just not feeling it at all. I know as soon as my eyes roll up into the back of my head, it's all very samey. The dance routine was good (don't get me wrong), but it was no way near as tight as their other auditions. The judges all agree with me for once (I'm shocked!) - Simon says they've got this far because they're likeable people, Amanda thinks it's not on par with their previous efforts and Piers is happy that they made the final, but was dissapointed.

It's time for Strike and like Simon I'm wondering what they can do to improve on their semi-final performance to make it bigger and better. They perform to I Like The Way You Move and it's explosive and fun! They really did crank it up a notch... Between martial arts moves, they even managed to blow a kiss to Amanda. I thought these guys would bomb tonight and they pulled a blinder! Simon thinks they could have just turned the competition on it's head, "I think that's the best performance I've seen tonight". Amanda agrees, "I know I go on about how gorgeous you both are but you are both lovely guys. The kids just love you!" Even Ant and Dec commend the lads on their commitment. "Ever since you made it through you have grabbed this competition with both hands - Well done!"

Andrew Johnston is a lovely kid and he has a truly fantastic voice, but once again his VT is just tears and quotes about bullying - it's all a bit long in the tooth and depressing too! I'm just glad he came out smiling and sang his heart out. It's like he's turned from a boy into a man, bless him. He's wearing a suit and Piers quips that he's grown taller than Ant and Dec - he looks like he has! Simon is gobsmacked by his flawless performance, "that was extraordinarily good!"

Get in! It's time for my fave, George Sampson!
He dances his heart out once more to Singing in the Rain and I can't believe he manages to improve on his semi-final performance. Rather than polished it was perfection, the guy is contagious... You've just gotta love him!

As he falls flat on his back in the rain, the audience rise to their feet along with the judges - one standing ovation coming up. He's soaked to the skin but loving it. Simon thinks he HAS to have a shot at winning, "to come out and repeat that dance with the pressure you're under. It was amazing!" Piers says it all, "Britain loves a fighter and YOU are a fighter. You missed out last year and this year you came back and said, 'I'm not finished with this' and I'm not giving up!"

COME ON GUYS - VOTE FOR GEORGE SAMPSON!
(If you want to that is... I'm not making you or
having any sort of preference - he he!)

I agree with Simon that Faryl Smith is special and a one in a million find (when it comes to operatic talent). But I'm a realist guys and still a firm believer in supply and demand. When it comes down to it, you have to like this style of music - end of. If you don't, you don't and that's it! I'm sorry - It's just not my bag. The judges love her performance and her voice (as do I), but it's a matter of how many people will vote for her to win. The same could be said for Andrew Johnston too... After Paul Potts last year, will the public want another operatic winner or is it time for something different?

I tell you what, Escala can really play! Talk about talented musicians - they're world class! The judges are in awe and argue over who could win this. Simon shakes his head, "I can't call this. There are about four acts that deserve to win and you are one of them!" Go on ladies!

Signature rocked the casbah - what a performance! I was hoping for Thriller as I loved the zombie dance off, but I was just as happy with a repeat of Billie Jean - these guys are fun with a capital F. They don't take themselves too seriously, they've improved every time and thought long and hard about their act. Most importantly, they're just humble lovely guys. Piers hits the nail on the head, "it was easy for us to say that there's four possible winners, now there's five!" I agree, they deserve a shot at the title... These guys demonstrate the lighter side of Britain and that we're not all about the stiff upper lip, we're happy to have a laugh!

THE RESULTS!

Are you ready guys?
Who deserves the hundred grand and who will take the crown?

The judges are the first to commend all of the acts tonight. "They have done Britain proud!"

THE TOP THREE ARE...

- SIGNATURE
- ANDREW JOHNSTON
- AND GEORGE SAMPSON (YES!)

MMMM... DID YOU NOTICE THAT THERE'S NO FARYL SMITH, I BET SIMON'S SURPRISED BY THAT ONE (I'M NOT!)

IN THIRD PLACE IS ANDREW JOHNSTON,
(HE'S IN TEARS POOR THING, HE REALLY WANTED TO WIN AND I FEAR THAT THE JUDGES GOT HIS HOPES UP.)

IT'S BETWEEN SIGNATURE AND GEORGE...

AND THE WINNER IS...

GEORGE SAMPSON - GET IN!

Signature are humble in defeat and thank everyone for their support. What great guys! George is in floods of tears and can only muster a few words, "thank you so much... Really thank you!" The audience and judges are on their feet. Simon says that he's the dancing version of Rocky and he's so pleased he came back and back... George gives his best performance ever of Singing in the Rain as there's just no pressure anymore. He's drenched for a third time, bless him. I'M SO CHUFFED FOR YOU LAD! FINALLY A DESERVED RESULT ON REALITY TV!

Live Blog - Semi Final 5

How do you fancy one more semi final?

Tonights's acts are:

Caberlesque
Anya Sparks
Craig Harper
Diva Las Vegas
Per Diem
Escala
Madonna
and Nemesis!

Caburlesque are up first and during their first audition they promised something sexier and much cheekier... Let's see what they have to offer eh?

All of the girls step out in huge ballgowns and as Get The Party Started plays out, they rip them off to reveal tiny pants and black stockings! It's a true homage to old fashioned burlesque as the dance routine is risque but classy - well done girls! Piers and Amanda loved it, they both agree that it was just the right amount of sauce. Sadly, Simon wasn't impressed and literally wanted to see more. "I don't think you will get through to the final with that performance. I didn't see personality and I expected more". Easy Tiger!

I tell you what, you can always count on a reality TV show to contradict a point can't you. Madonna is up next and during her VT she tells the audience that she doesn't want people to think she's begging for sympathy (as she's performing for her children and to support her family in the Philipines). Then... as she belts out Greatest Love Of All by Whitney Houston the producers flash up a photo of her children on the big screens! Talk about gooey! - It's annoying because it's not Madonna making a mountain out of a molehill, did anyone from the show listen to her VT? Piers commends her on her vocal and thinks her transformation is amazing and Amanda tells her not to worry about crying, "you make me week buckets every week". With great comments it's easy to think she may have a place in the final, but Simon doesn't want to patronise her... "I'm sorry but this is not Britain's saddest story, it's Britain's Got Talent and I don't think that your vocal or your performance was enough to win". Ouch!

Poor Madonna, she didn't blow me away but I think that's a bit harsh!

I have to ask... Dec's just said that Anya Sparks is a part time dancer. Where on earth is she a part time dancer? I thought she danced in her living room when she was cleaning? Her VT runs and Simon is the first to say that this could be the worst performance ever... Anya hits the stage with four half naked escorts and she rocks away to Crazy In Love in blue sequins - She can't be that bad, the judges don't buzz her at all! Piers says, "for the sheer entertainment factor that was fantastic". Amanda wishes her luck and thinks she's scrubbed up well and Simon, well he thinks the other two are on anothr planet! "The winner of this show will perform infront of Prince Charles, do you really think he wants to see that!" The audience boo Simon and chant for Anya to make the final, they've obviously fallen for her personality. I don't think she'll make the final but she's great fun.

I liked Craig Harper's first audition, but this time around I was a little dissapointed. I thought the Boyzone send up was so original and I was expecting more than a Shirley Bassey impersonation tonight. DOn't get me wrong it was still fun and I know he's worked so hard over the years, but the tears and speech at the end sent me over the edge. It was too much! I'm sure he was sincere, but it just didn't feel right to me and it was all a bit desperate. I agree with Simon that Craig has the likeability factor and he's a wonderful guy, but his speech was so OTT. I wish he'd just said nothing and let his act do the talking.

Mmmm... Like Craig before them, Diva Las Vegas were a bit of a let down too. During their first audition all of the girls were changing clothes, dancing and singing. This time it's more of a single quick change for the lead vocal. It's like they've taken it too seriously and lost that fun, camp element. Piers buzzes them and is not impressed with the lead singers performance, "you're not very good. We've had another act on tonight that danced in a similar way but were much more sexy". Amanda enjoyed it and Simon is the first to commend them for their efforts. "Tonight you really tried to put on a show. This really is as good as it gets though, I don't think you'll get to perform infront of Prince Charles". I agree Simon, but it's up to the public!

Okay. I have a problem and it's big! If you ask me, there aren't too many big hitters in this semi-final (compared to other nights) and I find myself wondering if Flava would have made it through had they been competing tonight? Nemesis have just performed and they were great, but I feel like they've been short changed as they're bound to be compared to Flava by the public. Amanda tries to squash any comparisons, "we had an act like this in the week, but you're better!" Whereas Simon gushes, "finally we come back to earth. We've had the past and that was a glimpse at the future. It was fantastic!" - Fair enough they were good, but I prefer Flava. They have more personality in their routines.

GOD I'M SO ANNOYED! Simon and Amanda have just buzzed Per Diem and they didn't deserve it at all! Fair enough they were nervous and there were a couple of bum notes, but they're far better than some of the acts we've seen.

It's no wonder the boys are annoyed (and obviously upset) when they get two buzzes. Especially when you consider that Anya Sparks didn't get one. These scouse lads have talent and Amanda and Simon just put them off even more with their stupid buzzers! The best line of the night came from a member of the audience... When Amanda said Per Diem were off key and their voices grated on her, a member of the audience shouted to Per Diem "YOU SHOULD HAVE TOOK YOUR TOPS OFF!"  Well said I say, Amanda didn't reply (wonder why?) - If you ask me, you judges need to draw a line as to when you buzz and when you don't. You can't buzz talent and then twiddle your thumbs watching twoddle! - Sadly, Per Diem may not have done themselves any favours. I know they were upset by being buzzed, but they came across as rather sulky during the interview and that's not the way to win votes.

I love this tune! Escala are performing Live And Let Die and it's a great choice of song to showcase their talent. The melody is slow to start, so they have a chance to show off the breadth of tone their instruments have and then the beat speeds up and they can demonstrate their skillful bow work - Ladies, you could be the dark horse here. The judges stand and are applauding as they finish... Piers is convinced that they are a hot tip for the final. "You're beautiful and talented. The bookies will be ripping up the odds as you three could win this!"

RESULTS TIME...

THROUGH TO THE FINAL IS:
ESCALA!

THROUGH TO THE JOICES CHOICE ARE:
CRAIG HARPER AND NEMESIS!

Piers finds it difficult to choose... Nemesis are an act of the future and Craig has worked for this all his life - He goes with Nemesis.

Amanda admits to being more traditional and opts for Craig.

I can't believe how long Simon drags it out but after letting both acts think he's going to vote for them, he goes with his head and chooses Nemesis! He might as well have just tortured Craig - It was so unfair!

Do you think the right acts went through to the final?

Live Blog - Semi Final 4

Are you ready?
Who will make it through tonight?

The eight semi-finalists are:

James Stone
Charlie Wernham
The Harlequin Dancers
Andrew Muir
Visage
Jeremy Lynch
Boogie Babes
and Faryl Smith

My money is on Faryl tonight, but I think it's anyones game for the second spot.

James Stone has always been a cabaret singer and he's paid his dues in working mens clubs and bingo halls all his life. Tonight he's singing You Can Leave Your Hat On and I'm impressed. He works the crowd like a pro and I'm thankful that he's floored the song, because it's one of my personal favourites. I still can't believe how old he is, he doesn't look it!

Piers snipes that James is cheesy, but adds that he likes cheesy. Amanda says she relaxes everytime he's on stage and thinks he's gorgeous (she's a fan of his snake hips). Finally Simon surprises us all... "I thought we had made a mistake putting you through to the semi-final, but I changed my mind tonight. We did the right thing. You have agreat voice and a great talent, I think you have ended up in the bingo halls because of bad luck and bad decisions - maybe THAT performance can change your life! James is touched and begins to fill up...

Charlie Wernham is up next and much as he's a great kid, I'm not a fan of 'child stand up'. Nevertheless, he's full of confidence and at just thirteen he's a star! He really has great timing and funny bones, bless him. The judges all agree that the jokes are terrible, Simon thinks they're like Christmas cracker quips and Amanda says they're awful - They all love Charlie though! Ant and Dec pipe up, "so they like you Charlie, but they're not keen on your material!" As always Charlie shoots from the hip, "well as long as it's enough to get me through to the final". Mmmm... I'm not sure.

Time for the Harlequins!  - These girls are all fantastic dancers and they give it their all, but it's all too Michael Flatley for me! The routine was polished and foot perfect, it made the judges sit up and take notice. Piers thinks he's just seen the best dance group and Simon agrees that hey didn't put a foot wrong. Could they make it through to the final?

Oh no! I was really looking forward to Andrew Muir's performance, but I don't like his song choice. You can't say this guy can't sing though - he's fantastic and his tone is unique. I'm a big fan! Andrew is obviously loving it and hopes that the audience enjoyed it too, "that was amazing and like nothing I've done before". Simon agrees with me about the song choice, but is bowled over by the vocals. Piers compares Andrew to last years winner, "you're a plumber from Scotland and you walk on the stage and sing like that, I felt a Paul Potts moment". Amanda thinks his voice is super-sexy and although she wants to sack the stylist, they can always work on the clothes! Andrew could be heading for the final...

Take 16 girls aged between 8 and 12 who are more than over excited about tonight's performance and you have The Boogie Babes! I really like these girls. The difference between this dance group and the others is that they have the fun factor. The outfits are genius and the music is spot on (well you can't beat a bit of queen can you!) - Simon and I are two peas tonight, he agrees that their personality matched their performance and thought it was great!

Naughty Visage! Forwarned is forarmed and the judges told them not to sing. The VT shows them debating if they should or shouldn't and they decide to sing and be true to the act and their audience. Wrong choice guys! They're buzzed by all three judges before the end of their act and Piers just can't hold his tongue... He's livid! "I think it was arrogant of you to come out and sing when we advised you not to. It was professional suicide! We said at the first audition that we loved the quick change, but you haven't listened". Amanda is fuming, as she didn't press her buzzer Simon did. She's more forgiving than Piers though, "it was a gamble that didn't pay off and that's all there is to it". Simon has no sympathy at all, "I thought the singing was worse!"

Cool! Jeremy Lynch is up next and I loved his act during tha auditions. The one fear here is dropping the ball and as he's added so many new tricks to his routine, he slips up twice. Piers and Simon both buzz on the second drop, but Amanda thinks it's unecessary... "It's easy to buzz when you drop the ball, but they should concentrate on the entertainment factor and I was entertained by that". Simon hasn't written him off completely though, "the thing about you is that you're a showman and that's where the appeal is. Unfortunately dropping the ball twice is like forgeting your words". Simon said earlier that the skill level of this guy is through the roof, perhaps he should remember that!

Finally we have Faryl Smith. This 12 year old girl blows me away with her vocals, but I know you're all going to hate me when I say it's a boring song choice. I agree with Simon that there's much more to come. She has such a mature tone to her voice and the judges just can't stop gushing. Simon says she's one in a million and is super-super-special. Amanda agrees and states that she'll kiss Piers on the mouth if Faryl doesn't make the final (she's tha convinced she will!)

Personally, I hope that Faryl makes the final, but I'm not sure if I'd like her to win. I'm AM sure there will be plenty of comments to tell me I'm talking out my hat, but I've had enough of the opera lark. I can't help it, I just find myself rolling my eyes! Paul Potts touched my heart last year and that was a real TV moment. But we've had an opera singer now, I'd like to see an original or physical 'talent' take the crown this year.

When asked about tonight's talent, Piers doesn't think they reached the same level as yesterday. "George's performance was so emotional yesterday, I don't think we got there... But the talent was fantastic tonight".

THE RESULTS ARE IN...

THROUGH TO THE FINAL IS:
FARYL SMITH!!!

AND THROUGH TO THE JUDGES CHOICE IS:
ANDREW MUIR AND JEREMY LYNCH

Simon doesn't need to vote as both Piers and Amanda vote for Andrew Muir. They both agree that dropping the ball has to be compared to losing your words and that can't be forgiven - sorry Jeremy. When Ant and Dec push, Simon reveals that he was going to vote for Andrew too, "with the right song!" Andrew is overjoyed and Faryl can't stop smiling!

Do you think the right acts made the final?

Live Blog - Semi Final 3

Here we go... I wonder if there will be any mention of Flava? - In a word NO! Not a word...

I can't believe who they're pitting against each other tonight. It's gonna be so tough to just pick two acts out of this lot. I just hope breakdancer George Sampson pulls the hat out of the bag! My money's on him and Charlie Green, but it could be anyones game after last night's fiasco!

Here's who's up for the chop:

Irresistable
Strike!
Mary Halford March
The Deans Of Magic
Charlie Green
Hoop La La
Charlie Green
George Sampson

First up are Irresistable and although it's a good song choice, it's a little predictable. They perform Christina Aguilera's Candyman and the vocals are fantastic, but the problem is that it's just like any other female harmony group. The highlight of the performance was when part of their uniforms came off and Simon's eyes nearly popped out. The judges enjoyed it none the less, "I though that was brilliant!" - Piers believes these girls can aid troop morale abroad and I agree! Amanda tells the girls that Simon will be removing the Do Not Disturb sign from his door tonight. Simon replies, "well you told me to put it up!" The girls are blushing and so is Amanda...

Now that the men have been satisfied, it's our turn! Here's Strike! The boys punch and kick their way through a two minute routine and it's obvious that they've been working out and have really thought about how to make their act more entertaining. Every move coincides with a sound effect or beat and as the boys rip off their tops, I'm sold! Amanda is hypnotised by the pecks and pouncing ...and I was too for a sec!

I'm surprised by the judges comments. I was expecting them to be harsh and I didn't think they'd get it, but Simon says it's one of his favourite acts so far. Piers and Amanda tip the pair for the final - Great job lads! - Simon commends them both, "I know you have thought about how to make this act better!" Amanda can't help herself! "Yeah, you can take your bottoms off next time!" Love it!

Next up is the Mary Halford March and as much as I thought their first audition was sweet, this is a little bit sickly. They perform to Reet Petite in pink sequins with their best smiles, but both Piers and Simon buzz them. The girls (and one boy) look stunned by the buzzing and it seems to put them off, I feel for these little ones - I really do! As they complete their routine, Piers is considerate of their feelings. He explains that he buzzed them because they weren't as good as some of the other dance acts, but it's obvious that they have talent and have worked SO hard. Simon nods and blames Mary Halford's choreography... "I really liked you lot, maybe we'll have to call you something else next year". Ouch! I don't think Mary will be happy with that!

Oh my God! We have just had our first 'three buzzer' moment! The Deans Of Magic received three buzzes from the judges before their act had climaxed. Obviously unimpressed, they advise the judges that the best was still to come. "Magic needs a build up to create atmosphere and the spectacular part was in the final part". Piers questions the fact that they refer to their act as a 'spectacular', can you say ego? Amanda's not having it at all, "last time Simon refered to this as 'readers wives'... I think it's more keys in the fruitbowl!" Piers agrees, "it was the most boring thing I've seen". Mmmm... I guess that's bye bye then!

Poor Charlie Green! My heart goes out to him. He's such a sweetheart, that he sings a song written by a friend of his dad. Unfortunately the judges hate it and Charlie looks devastated! What a risk to take eh? Surely someone should have warned him! Both Piers and Amanda didn't get the song at all, but agree that Charlie was fabulous in his first audition. Simon is annoyed and admits that he was worried about this in rehearsals... "I think you are fantastic and you're a ten, but that song was a two! Last time you sang one of my favourite songs, Summer Wind and I want to hear you singing songs like that". Simon rallies the voters, "I loved you though, I want to see you in the final!"

Woohoo! Go on ladies! The Urban Gypsies are on and boy are they shaking everything they've got to Shakira's Hips Don't Lie. I'm clapping away, but Piers buzzes the bellydancers almost immediately. "Come on ladies, I can understand why those of Simon's generation would find that entertaining, but it just didn't do it for me". The girls are not taking this lying down... "Piers, I'm only thirty five, half of us are younger than you!" Amanda giggles, "I disagree completely, it was really fun and energetic. I'm glad the girls are abundantly free!" Simon sides with Amanda, "we asked you to put on a better performance and you did. I think what Piers said is condescending. He's insulted half the country. If you ask me, I'd like to see those pups in the final!" The crowd erupt - Well said Simon!

I don't want to admit it, but I think I'm as enthusiastic about Hoop La La as Amanda is! I love these guys, they're camp as Christmas and so much fun. It's obvious they love what they do! They've obviously worked on their act to try and impress Simon (who hated them last time) - It worked as Simon admits, "you've won me round! It was all wrong, but it's right. I don't know what it is. It was fantastic!" Piers seems fuddled by Simon's change of heart, but Amanda isn't... "I love you three. This is my favourite act of all!" Could Hoop La La snatch it from Charlie Green?

Here's my boy!
GO ON GEORGE SAMPSON!

George starts to dance and unlike his normal urban groove, it's an homage to Singing In The Rain. He combines a classic movie tune with hip-hop steps and when he throws his hat across the stage like Gene Kelly, I'm hooked! The crowd are on their feet as he spins on his head, then they explode when he pops an umbrella and rain falls onto the stage. George is dancing in the rain and you can tell he's dancing for his life out there - He's shattered by the end, talk about giving your all. Love him, just love him! I want to watch it again...

As George dries his head with a towel, Piers says he wasn't just dancing... he was winning the competition! Amanda is in floods and admits she never thought she could cry at an act like this. "You could tell you were dancing for your life George. It was bloody brilliant!" Simon literally gushes, "when I watch the video and see how much this means to you and how hard you're willing to work... You can see how much it means to you and your mum. What can I say, you get my vote - it was fantastic!"

Ant and Dec ask George about his long wait to get here... "It was worth every second. It doesn't get any better than that. That was my best performance ever and I'll be thinking about it for years!" He's so humble, bless him!

IT'S RESULTS TIME!

THE ACT WITH THE HIGHEST VOTE IS:
GEORGE SAMPSON!!!! YES! YES! YES!
(There's my favourite through to the final!)

THROUGH TO THE JUDGES CHOICE ARE:
CHARLIE GREEN AND STRIKE!
(Strike are a surprise aren't they?)

Simon believes that Charlie was hindered by his song tonight, but he loves Strike's individuality - He opts for Charlie. In a shocking twist, both Piers and Amanda vote for Strike! Charlie Green is out, I didn't see that coming did you? I thought it would be Hoop La La.

Well I'm happy guys...
What a great show!
Has your favourite made it through yet?

Has Simon Lost His Touch?

See the post below for my LIVE blog of last night's show!

So what do you think?

After Simon's controversial decision to put The Cheeky Monkeys through over Flava, has he lost his touch for talent? I mean we don't live in a world that embraces Tellytubbies or WWF tracks anymore... and what ever happened to Leon from X-Factor?

I know Leona's made it big but when you look at the ratios, the words 'talent conveyor belt' spring to mind! Who's next to fall off the end into oblivion?

SIMON

During last night's show, Simon chose The Cheeky Monkeys because he believed the public wanted them in the final. I'm not sure that this was the case and am wondering if he's lost touch with his audience. Are the non-stop reality shows finally getting to him or has he softened and just can't say no to the kids?

Frankly, I think that there will be more than enough children in the final as it is. It really is a case of the kids have it!

Humble in defeat, Flava told Ant and Dec that they had enjoyed their experience and loved every minute. If you ask me they were robbed and after reading all your emails and comments from last night, I guess you feel the same. It's not that we don't love The Cheeky Monkeys (they're so cute), but Flava would have been a positive reflection of young people today. In a time of hoodies, ASBO's and gang related violence, it would be great for the country to see these admirable young people taking steps toward a goal.

I have no doubt that The Cheeky Monkeys will do very well, but I'm convinced that (with the right routine and props), Flava have a real chance of winning.

The judges should introduce a wildcard and bring Flava back! - SIGN UP HERE TO JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!

Live Blog - Semi Final 2

Are you ready for a cracking semi-final?

Tonight's acts are:
Andrew Johnston
Flava
Bang On
Iona
Kay and Harvey
Cheeky Monkeys
Mandy Ellen Dancers
Sauris Nandi

The judges are in fine fettle, well apart from Simon who admits to being hungover. The acts better watch out eh!

My tip for the top tonight are Flava. I just hope they can bring the 'tude' they brought to the first audition. I've seen the rehearsals and I'm not convinced... We shall have to see!

First up tonight are the Mandy Ellen Dancers. These guys combine modern and traditional and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with... They dance to I Do Believe and it's a great start to the show. Their timing is impecable and there's not a foot out of place. Piers loved them and advises that some of the kids are better dancers than the grown ups! Amanda commends them for being a credit to young people and Simon congratulates Mandy Ellen on her fabulous choreography. "Well done, you did a great job. It started of okay, but then the kids came out and everything changed. Then it was fantastic!"

Oh no - Poor Iona! Did you see her face? It looks so sore!
She fell backstage and although she's been given the all clear, she's obviously shaken. What a women though, she climbs on her podium and is steady as a rock! Pose after pose completed, she's the first to celebrate her success. "I'm so pleased I made the right choice. The show must go on and I won't let it stop me". All the judges are more than impressed and Simon thinks it was even better this time. I have to say her grand entrance did it for me, she should make the final for talent and guts! That's a corking thick lip!

Bless em! The Cheeky Monkeys perform next and they look cuter than ever in day-glow orange and rainbow stripes. They perform to Sucking Too Hard On Your Lollipop and like their first audition, they're super fast and foot perfect. Their personalities just shine through and the judges are all smiles. Piers has to apologise as he didn't think they were ready for this, "and now I can see you are!" Simon says that they're his favourite act of the night so far. "I don't know what's up with me tonight. I really liked that. What I love about you two is that you aren't stage school monsters". I thought it was a fun performance, but I'm not sure if it merits a place in the final. I wouldn't want to give these kids false hope...

I have to agree with Simon when it comes to Kay and Harvey, I have no idea why they're here tonight either! As the VT runs, it's obvious that Simon is annoyed by Kay's growing ego.. "She really thinks she can win this competition". The pair perform You Raise Me Up and although I agree with Piers (they are proudly representing the older generation), it just doesn't work for me. Kay may have been in the same choir as last years winner, but she really isn't Paul Potts and she lacks his likeability too. A good effort me thinks, but no cigar. Simon said it all, "I'm sure some people will agree with me... It was verging on torture!"

Time for Bang On now... I have to stop typing so I can watch. These two really stand out and they're a true variety act. Listening...

They perform to 4 Minutes by Madonna and the judges are split. Piers and Simon are not impressed with the use of music and some of the props, "the coat hanger did it for me" and "the music didn't work". Amanda lashes out and tells Piers he's talking out of his bin! "Take no notice to these two, they haven't a clue. I loved the music although I couldn't hear the drumming very well". Bang On thank Amanda and are rather political in their reply. It's a bit weird if you ask me, they start talking about green issues and encouraging people to take up music??? Simon advises them that they are in a 'fully lit studio' and it's not really the time to be 'talking green'. There's a time and a place guys!

If you ask me, I was right to worry about Flava! I don't think they were as good as their first audition (although I still think they were fab!)
...What with masks falling off, wrong steps, timing issues and some weird track mixing it was all a bit shoddy. Don't get me wrong I still hope they make it through to the final, but they need to bring back that first audition magic! They were special because they had such unity and an obvious love of dance. The love was there tonight but the unity was missing... and I wasn't sure about the choreographers son who remained standing at the end. It was almost like mum wanted him to hold the spotlight. The performance wasn't a total loss though, the final minute was more like the old Flava! The judges agree with me, though Simon tries his best to rally the voters. I think he wants these guys in the final don't you?

What on earth was that magic act all about? Like the audience I'm dumbstuck! Any suggestions?

Finally, we have Andrew Johnston and after much speculation in the papers about him, I'm glad to see Piers put the bullying issue to one side. "There has been a lot written about that and I think we're at a point in the competition where we should concentrate on your voice. You are a fantastic singer!" Simon was concerned that Andrew still lacks confidence and he shouldn't. "You have a great voice. I was worried when you were shaking at the start of the song, but as your confidence built it was great again". Piers agrees and adds that as well as the winner tonight, Andrew may be the favourite for the whole show.

Results are in!

THE PUBLIC VOTE GOES TO:
ANDREW JOHNSTON!

THROUGH TO THE JUDGES CHOICE ARE:
THE CHEEKY MONKEYS
AND...
FLAVA!

I'm surprised that Iona wasn't in there, but I hope the judges go with Flava...

Flava lean over and shake hands with The Cheeky Monkeys, they're so sweet!

Piers is up first and votes for Flava, Amanda flips it and opts for The Monkeys. In what can only be described as a travesty, Simon votes for The Monkeys too! He believes that the public want to see them in the final - Wrong again Cowell!

I wanted to see Flava Simon... This sucks!

What do you think guys?
I'm not happy! Leave your comments...

Live Blog - Semi Final 1

Here we go...

I think it will be interesting to see which acts are placed together during these semi-finals. There are 13 dance acts, 6 children, 6 singers, 5 musicians and 10 quirky acts. How they are pipped against each other could be the make or break element for some.

Tonight's Semi-Final line up are:

Boogie Wonderland
Kate and Gin
Dean Wilson
Michael Machell
Tracy Lee Collins
Sophie Mei
Phil Blackmore
and Signature...

Simon can't wait to use his buzzer, "after hearing who's on tonight I think I'm gonna be using it a lot!"

First up are Boogie Wonderland and I feel for them, it's not easy to go first (especially when you're a dance act). They bop away to Car Wash in their seventies inspired outfits and they just hope the judges are blown away. "We feel honoured to be first tonight and just hope the judges enjoyed it". Piers thinks it was genius that they utilised an era when he and Simon were disco dancing. "We were totally feeling it". One person who wasn't feeling it was Amanda, "I don't think it was as good as your first audition. I can see you want it in your faces, but that didn't come across in your performance". Surprisingly, Simon disagrees and the dancers are elated. "I didn't like the act on the first audition, but this time around I thought it was brilliant! I don't know why Amanda didn't like it, maybe it's just because you're all young or something".

Next, it's time for Gin and Kate and I can't wait (I'm a poet!) - The pair perform to Don't Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters and it's amazing what this dog can do! The amount of tricks and moves have doubled and the only problem is that Kate looks a little nervous (there was problems during rehearsals as Gin was distracted by the new lights). She needn't have worried though, Gin did her proud and the judges loved it! Piers gushes, "I think Gin is the most talented dog in the world" and Simon goes one better, "never mind the best dog, he's one of the best performers in the world. I think he's a man in a dog suit or something, a dog can't do that - Fantastic!"

I think that Amanda and Piers may have hung Michael Machell out to dry here... I feel sorry for him. Simon says that he's no idea why this guy is in the semi-final and that he was probably one of the worst acts they had during the auditions. If that's the case then what is he doing here and how did it come to this? Surely another act could have been in his semi-final place? He's up next, but the audience are shouting 'off' before he appears... It's the ultimate in gimmicks and cliches as Michael drops from the ceiling (playing Star Wars) in a cardboard spaceship. The crowd boo throughout and Simon buzzes straight away. I don't know why the other judges let him continue to the end, I'm cringing as the audience are relentless. I don't know what Piers is on tonight, he congratulates Michael and says he's reached new heights! Simon says, "I'll give you something... You managed to be worse than you were before!" Michael is obviously annoyed and lashes out, "Simon your knowledge of music is the size of a postage stamp!" Does this guy know who Simon is and what he actually does?

Well what can I say... I don't usually agree with Simon but when it comes to Dean Wilson's performance, I have to! I loved his first audition and thought he was made for musicals (as there was a lot more movement and acting involved). This time around Dean performs Somewhere and although the vocal was fantastic, I think the performance was a little robotic. Regardless of Simon's opinion (and mine), Amanda and Piers commend Dean on an amazing rendition. "That was unbelievable, just don't forget you can act as well as sing. You are what this show is all about!"

OMG! After Sophie Mei's previous bellydancing performance, I was looking forward to what she'd come up with this time. The silver costume was stunning, the dancing was hypnotic, selecting Kiss-Kiss as the music was genuis, but what on earth had happened to this super-curvy sexy woman? Where on earth has Sophie gone? Can you say crash diet? If you're a belly dancer why would you want to lose your belly before the semi-final? She looked like a different woman! The judges loved it, but I thought she had far more sex appeal with more shake and shimmee... Bring back the curves girlfriend!

Can you believe what Piers said to Phil Blackmore? Fair enough his daredevil balancing act wasn't as exciting as it was last time, but there's no need for that! The guy balances a flaming barbecue on his face and juggles fire and Piers says he'd be happier if he'd hurt himself or died! What's that all about? Amanda said, "you JUST balanced them" and Simon thought it was boring! What do you want guys, blood? I'm beginning to think so! Simon didn't stop there... "I was expecting serious risk of injury, you know chainsaws or a shark tank or something". Phil shakes his head, "I'm still here and I didn't die. I'm happy with that! They have the right to their opinion and I have the right to completely disagree with them!" You got that right Phil, what was Piers thinking? I'd have been happier if you had died - you can't say that Piers... You just can't!

Do you know what? I knew this would happen... Remember Justin from the X-Factor a few years back? Simon told him that he'd do better in a dress and he trotted off and came back in drag... Well here's Tracy Lee Collins doing the same thing! He performs Big Spender in a shocking pink frock and I'm wondering what the hell is the world coming to? It would be great if it was a serious impersonation or at least a fun performance, but it was neither... He should have just come back as himself and not took Simon's comments at face value. Ha, what do I know eh? Amanda loved it! Piers congratulates Simon on his 'dress suggestion' and as always Simon laps it up. "I did get it right. It was better with a dress, but that's it. Is it something that Prince Charles would enjoy?" As Tracey begins to compare himself (in drag) to 'someone' Prince Charles already has at home, Ant and Dec move things along quick smart... It didn't float my boat, but the judges enjoyed it.

I think Signature are so much fun you know... AND they're original! After their first audition, Simon challenged them to come back with something bigger and better and they didn't disappoint. Everyone I've spoken to wondered what these guys would come up with and many thought they'd struggle. They give it everything they've got and perform both a modern and bhangra version of Thriller. The classic red and black MJ style costumes, the climbing out of coffins and the zombified backing dancers tick all the boxes - the judges are beaming from ear to ear and Simon is applauding! "You know what I love about you guys, you're just normal guys and you're what this show's about. I wondered if you could top your first audition and you did, that was fantastic!" I can't help smiling when these guys are on - Shamon!

TIME TO VOTE!

The top three acts chosen by the public have a chance to make the final on Saturday. The number one act goes through on merit and the judges must then choose from the two remaining acts.

THE PUBLIC VOTE IS IN...
THE FIRST ACT THROUGH TO THE FINAL IS:
SIGNATURE!

THE ACTS WHO ARE SECOND AND THIRD
(ANNOUNCED IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER) ARE:
DEAN WILSON AND KATE AND GIN

Piers finds the decision difficult, but he chooses Dean... Amanda opts to disappoint one performer rather than two - she keeps Gin and Kate and Dean is gutted when Simon says, "I'm a fan of originality and animals..."

THE JUDGES CHOICE IS...
KATE AND GIN - WOOHOO!
I LOVE THAT DOG!

I feel for Dean, it's not good for the ego when you lose out to a dog. The good news is that his talent has been showcased on national TV and hopefully he'll be snapped up by a west end producer - cross your fingers for him guys!

Live Blog - Show 7

Who has made the final stages?

On tonight's show the judges get their heads together, rest their buzzers, break some hearts and make some dreams come true... Before we find out who has made it to the final week, there are a few more acts to squeeze in!

First up is nine year old Joe from Devon. He likes to balance spoons on his face and his record is 13 spoons. I'm not sure how the judges will take this one... When he describes his talent, Simon's face says it all! Piers thinks it's a cracking talent and says "yes", but both Simon and Amanda think it's a non-starter.

More acts bomb as the day goes on... Claire Hawes plays two recorders with her nose and is buzzed in record time and Colin the Elvis impersonator has the judges in stitches as he needs some shorts. Let's just say his act was poor but revealing - You could see everything he had. As he left the stage after being rejected, I nearly wet myself when Dec said "Keep it up!"

The Urban Gypsies are from all walks of life and I think they're fun, fruity and fantastic! These belly dancers know how to shake it and their personalities shine through - GO ON LADIES! Amanda loved it, "that was fabulous". It didn't work for Piers though and he was harsh in his critique, "It didn't rock my casbah! I think you've proved that bellydancing is for fit people." Thank God that Simon agreed with Amanda and put them through... I had to laugh at Ant, he was gutted that they didn't strip!

I'm not too sure about Deans Of Magic, Carl and Claudine. They perform an impressive box and sword trick with Claudine encased in the box, but I agree with Simon that it was all "a bit readers wives". I felt uncomfortable as though I was peeping through a keyhole and Amanda agreed. "Some things belong behind closed doors and that's one of them!" Piers complimented them on the magic act and wasn't phased by the see-through nighty and touchy-feely element. Simon nods along and puts them through on the act alone... I hope their next trick isn't more razzle than dazzle!

Bless Darren Osbourne! He's a sweetheart and he's always wanted to be a stand up comedian. This young man looked so nervous, but really pulled the hat out of the bag onstage. He had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand, his delivery and timing were bob on - One joke later and he's through. The judges loved him!

Andrew Muir is a plumber who has never sang infront of people before. He looks terrified and I'm hoping that he's got a voice. He seems so personable and endearing, I don't want the judges to eat him alive. OMG!  He belts it out like an indie legend and Simon is beaming from ear to ear - you can almost see the pound signs flashing before his eyes! Piers cracks me up, "I think an awful lot of women in this audience have just developed plumbing problems". Simon agreed, "you have made coming to Scotland worthwhile. You came on with zero confidence and you were humble, it was fantastic to watch your confidence build toward the end of the song". Andy is a hot tip for the final if you ask me!

Other acts through to the next round include, Nemesis (a dance act who may give Flava a run for their money), Paws For Thought (a fire jumping rescue dog display team), Sauris Nandi (who perform a cracking levitation trick) and The Harlequins dance troop (a modern dance troop with an irish twist).

150 acts have made it through to the next round but only 40 can make the final week. Who will it be? As the judges deliberate I'm crossing my fingers for George (the young breakdancer)...

YES! YES! YES!!! GO ON LAD! HE'S THROUGH!

Other acts to make it through include Flava, Gin The Dog, Andrew Muir (the plumber), The Urban Gypsies, Faryl, Tracey Lee Collins, HoopLaLa, Krista & Charlie (The Cheeky Monkeys), Jeremy Lynch (football skills), Par Diem, Sam & Vicky (quick change), Strike, Charlie Green, Madonna, Craig Harper (singing impersonator), Iona (contortionist), Scala (violinists), Andrew Johnson (opera singer) and many more... The act causing the most controversy appears to be Michael Maychall. Simon states that Amanda must be insane if she thinks that he has talent, but Piers and Amanda both want him in the semi-finals. Michael was the guy who played Star Wars badly on the electronic keyboard. I find it hard to believe that the judges seriously put this guy through, especially when you consider that a 6 year old gifted pianist was ousted.

As well as this lot, a ton of dance troops made it through and I'm wondering why the judges bothered. I don't think for a minute that a traditional dance act will make the final. The modern urban dance acts like Flava or Nemesis - yes, the fifty little girls in frills - no!

Sorry, but it's true!

The semi-final stages run every night from 9pm on Monday until the grand final on Saturday the 31st of May. I'll be here every night to blog each stage LIVE!

Tipped For The Top

Should the Britain's Got Talent judges be allowed to predict a winner?

I have to ask the question after the recent American Idol fiasco in the U.S.

Last week Simon Cowell appeared on Jay Leno's show and as well as revealing that he used to wear make-up, he predicted that David Cook would win American Idol as he "had earned it more". However, during the final show he gave every round to Cook's opponent David Archuleta and suggested that he should be the next American Idol.

"You have won every round, it's been a knockout!"

Controversially, Simon then apologised to David Cook as the results show began... "I watched it back at home and it wasn't as clear cut as I thought. I was verging on disrespectful with you. I don’t think you deserved that."

Is this the way a competition should be judged that offers an enormous cash prize? Should specific finalists from Britain's Got Talent be singled out in this way and if they are, do the judges hold the power to sway the vote?

I'm all for the judges giving their opinion, but should they keep shtum when it comes to naming a winner? Isn't that what the public vote is for?

Who Will Make The Final?

Saturday night is the big one for all of the contestants as they'll find out who's through to the final stage!

Piers, Simon and Amanda will spend days going through every acts bio and discussing the pros and cons of each performer.

Do they have long term appeal?
Do they have genuine talent?
Are they likeable...
and
where will they be this time next year?

With the answers to these questions, they will then select the acts that will make it and break the news on Saturday night. Be sure to log in and give your two penneths worth when the show airs. I'll be here LIVE with my opinions and criticisms!

I've added pics of who I'd like to see in the final stages...
But who's your favourite?

Live Blog - Show 6

Here we go...
Are you ready for your weekly mish-mash of talent and trash?

First up are Sean and Mike (or Southlife - original name eh?) -They start to sing and to say they're out of tune is an understatement. Simon buzzes straight away and can only say that nothing was right. The boys fight back, "at least we've got the guts to get up infront of the audience". Ant and Dec are the first to say they have guts, beer guts!

How rude!

(C) ITV

Things only get worse when Peter Ellison is buzzed off thanks to his Zippy impression... Would you dress like this on national TV?

(C) ITV

Ha, ha, ha! I love these animal acts. I have to ask, how on earth is Mimi a dancing sheep? She walked up and down the stage and then ran away - Hilarious!

(C) ITV

James Stone impresses the judges with his moves and his rendition of I Just Wanna Make Love To You. The audience sing along and they're sold by the chorus, but Simon is concerned that he has some 'cheap' bad habits. "You really do need to work on those. It looked a bit desperate in places". Nevertheless he snaffles a yes from the three of them and Amanda compares him to Mick Jagger. If I'm honest, I don't think I'd go that far but he looks fab for 52... I would have guesed 40 max!

(C) ITV

Arrr... Lydia May (11) is a cutey and there's no doubt that she has talent. The only problem is that it's all very stage school, she's obviously made for musicals. Her diction is perfect (as is her constant smile) but I do feel sorry for her, she's in tears before her performance because of the pressure.

She performs Posh from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I have to agree with Simon... It wasn't the best routine or song choice, but she's so endearing in person that she has to go through. With a better song she could go far, she just needs to be careful not to over pronunciate which causes her to fall off beat.

(C) ITV (C) ITV

I think Amanda's just hit the nail on the head, Daniel Pirie really is the Billy Elliot of this competition and he has a heartwrenching story too! He reveals that his mum was injured in an accident and although she was previously a dancer, she's now in a wheelchair. He has obviously inherited her talent and as she watches backstage, he woos the judges with a classical piece. For a young man he's so composed and he's made his mum proud that's for sure! He sails through to the next round and I couldn't be happier!

(C) ITV

What a scream! Did you see Susan and her hats? I wanted more and was gutted when she was buzzed off! The act was like Pam Ayres on acid. She just didn't get what Simon was trying to say about her act being limited, "but I have lots of hats!" He didn't mean a limited number of hats Susan - Bring her back please, I just loved her!

(C) ITV

Tracey Lee Collins is up next singing Think Twice. He's off key in places, but gets the crowd going and gives it his best shot - before you know it he has them swaying and eating out of the palm of his hand. Simon's not convinced and thinks that he'd be better in drag, but Piers and Amanda are in agreement... "This show was made for people like you!" He's through with two votes but with Simon against him, I'm not sure how long he'll last in the later rounds.

(C) ITV

Two acts that are unique are Bang On and Viva Las Vegas. Bang on are a percussion group who perform using barrels, pipes and allsorts. The judges give them a thumbs up alongside Viva Las Vegas who perform a caberet/showgirls act - Simon and Dec love them! If you ask me, it may have something to do with the team of dancing girls who have to strip backstage to change costumes. Mr Donnelly thinks it's a real bonus and is genuinely pleased when they get through - I wonder why?

Here's Bang On in action...

(C) ITV

Good Lord! Flava just blew me away. I want to see them again! If you ask me, this is the hot dance act of the series and these youngsters are a team to be reckoned with. They even volunteer in schools and teach kids how to dance - Talk about role models! I'm bowled over by the routine and like the judges, I can't believe that the choreographer is dancer Kyle's mum (she doesn't look old enough).

(C) ITV

As their performance comes to an end, the audience give them a standing ovation and even Simon is applauding. What can I say, they're just great kids!

(C) ITV

Piers and Amanda loved it and Simon gushes, "What I love about this is that you've done this yourselves. The choreography was as good as I've seen in America, it was fantastic! Young people have had a lot of bad press recently and you have shown us the good you can do. You may have just made hoodies acceptable and you are one of the best dance acts we have seen".

WOW - What fabulous comments! This group are one to watch and they're my favourite act of the night. If (like me) you can't wait to see them again click here!

Show Preview

If there's one thing I love about the BGT boffins at ITV, it's their previews. They always choose acts that go one of two ways - fabulous or ruddy awful!

This time around I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but let's just say you don't get more 'unique' than Mike and Shaun. These guys really want to make it and they compare themselves to Westlife no less. Why not take a look and see what you think...

Click here to visit ITV and take a look.
(WARNING: Earplugs may be required!)

As a bonus I also thought I'd add a link to my favourite act from last week's show. Phil Blackmore impressed me by juggling knives, standing on a see-saw of two crates and balancing a battleaxe on his chin! Personally, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

If you're not on the edge of your seat when you watch this, there's something wrong with you!

See you tomorrow night for the LIVE blog. I'll be here when the show airs to give my opinion and I look forward to hearing what you think!

Room For Improvement?

Do you think this week's acts can improve by the next round?

After some of the judges comments on Saturday, I started thinking and it seems to me that some of the acts have their work cut out for them.

Animagique virtually begged and pleaded with Simon to go through and Cowell was only willing to go along with it, if they made the act bigger and better. They said the biggest animal they had was a German Shepherd - It's not really Siegfried and Roy is it? What can they do to knock the judges socks off and be truly spectacular? I just hope they can come up with something as they seemed so nice.

Then we have Hoop-La-La... I loved them, but Simon asked where they see the act going as the rounds go on.

I have high hopes for them on that front as they already have other routines prepared. They also know their strength - pure campness! You get far too many acts on these shows that take themselves too seriously, these guys just aren't like that. I'm not sure if they'll rely on the campness or the hoop skills next time, but they seem to have something great planned!

Craig explains, "We can't reveal what we'll do next time around (if we make it) but we cut this act down from six and a half minutes. We've loads of routines to choose from too! What we do is a mixture of fitness and camp fun, so we'll make up some new routines - and maybe some spangly new costumes too!" Sounds fab guys!

Hey, at least these two acts can't kill themseves in their search for fame. The frightening thing is that the same can't be said for Phil our balancing juggler.

A bloodthirsty Simon Cowell loved the idea that he was risking his life, but what will he come up with for the next round? The battleaxe trick had me on the edge of my seat... If he makes it even more dangerous, I don't think I'll be able to watch. I dread to think what he's going to do!

What do you think?
Could these guys make the final?
Is there room for improvement...
...and what could the do?

Live Blog...

LIVE BLOG RUNNING NOW...

So who will the judges love to hate tonight?

For the first time, Britain's Got Talent is visiting Scotland this year. The judges travel to Glasgow and they're looking forward to seeing what the city has to offer.

First up is Family Affair, an all singing harmony act. There's mum, dad and their two children and what can I say? The judges are totally unforgiving. The audience are shouting 'off' and after three buzzes, they're out of there! Who really sings Ba, Ba, Baran anymore? Mum wasn't impressed though and asked Ant and Dec where they went wrong, "Why didn't they like close harmonies? They were vicious!" Simon tells it like it is, "they were a Scottish act booed by a Scottish crowd!"

I liked Animagique - Bless em!
You could tell they really wanted it and it meant everything to them. I agree with Simon that the magic act needs to be bigger. He wasn't David Copperfield, but both he and his wife tried their best. Toward the end it was like they were just taking animals out of boxes, but he promised Simon that the act will be bigger and better next time. Sadly Piers and Amanda say no... I can't believe it, but Simon says yes and talks Amanda into changing her mind! The defining moment is dragged out, but I'm glad the couple make it through as they seem genuinely thankful. Simon demonstrating compassion - Whatever next?

OFF TO LONDON>>>

I LOVE HOO LA LA! Craig, Jessie and Tina are a hula-hoop act with a twist. They are SOOO camp and fabulous! At first the three of them seem so serious, but as soon as the music starts and Craig begins to wiggle, it's fantastic. Not only are they amazing hula-hoopers, but the dance element makes the whole turn so much fun! They make it through but Simon isn't sure it's something that Prince Charles would want to see. Piers disagrees and so do I! "I think Prince Charles would love it. We have this boring stuff on the Royal Variety when we could have you". I think these guys could go a long way. A real happy act and the crowd adored them!

Natasha Bennett is an operatic star, a real talented beauty. Her voice is angelic, but I think Paul Potts has squeezed the whole 'opera thing' dry for this year. I don't think the opera singers have a hope this time around - Wait till next year and come back guys!

Caberlesque look like a saucy bunch. A blend of caberet and burlesque, they perform a pussycat dolls style dance act. Ant and Dec love them and I have to laugh when Simon puts them through when they agree to Amanda's demands... "If you come back will you wear smaller knickers for the can-can?" Easy Tiger! Amanda's such a little minx isn't she!

BIRMINGHAM>>>

WOW! Austin was a big hit, did you expect that delicate sound to come from a saw? I know that I didn't and I think Simon was unfair to buzz so early. He played You Raise Me Up and in all honesty I was gobsmacked. I couldn't have said it better than Piers, "when you came out I thought you looked dull and average and then you pull your saw out and you're some sort of musical genius aren't you!" Simon you big sourpuss, lighten up!

I just caught a glimpse of the human beatbox and the couple in cumberbunds with the hounds. It just goes to show that Simon's a big softy and Piers isn't really 'withit'. Simon couldn't say no to a dog that acted broken hearted and Piers said that Prince Charles would 'dig' the beatbox dude. Talk about cheese with extra cheese Piers, attempting the 'hip' lingo just doesn't suit you... NEXT!

Stuart Goldsmith the strongman? Mmmm...
I thought he wasn't going to manage that atlas stone at first, thank God he got there in the end. Simon couldn't wait to buzz, did you see him eyeing up his button? The best part was when Ant and Dec came on stage and sat on the swing to be lifted. I think Stuart's personality did more for the judges than his weightlifting. Bubbly and friendly, but the act wasn't for me. What do you think?

Poor David Williams... He came to dance, but didn't stand a chance. At 21 he's straight out of performing arts school and I think he's a victim of his peers telling him he's good. The judges disagree and buzz him in seconds. The audience are shouting 'off, off, off' and Amanda cringes at his holiday camp moves. Simon says that it was rubbish and David just can't take it. He shouts f****ff numerous times as he runs from the stage and leaves without speaking to Ant and Dec. I don't think anyone should be made to feel like they have to run off. Poor David... As long as you love it, you should keep doing it!

I think I spoke too soon about the opera singers! Farrell is only 12 years old, but she sings like she's been on stage for 30 years. Her voice is unbelievable and as she opens her mouth to sing Ave Maria, the judges are in awe. There's even a few seconds silence as she finishes... that's before the crowd erupt into a standing ovation. It's like they're all in shock! Simon uses words like special, amazing and incredible and tells the youngster that it's the best audition he's seen. Me thinks we will see a whole lot more of this little one, don't you?

It's so touching when she runs into her fathers arms and he walks with her onstage to give the audience a thumbs up. Can we have more of the same next week please?

Hi, I am from Venezuela and cannot watch the show live but I have a question.   I saw a child, Charlie Green singing Summer Wind but haven't heard of him anymore.  Was he in a previous year of BGT? Is he now in the competition?  I am confused.
Thanks a lot! Veronica

Thanks for your question Veronica. Charlie Green was fantastic wasn't he? He is still in the show and after the rest of the auditions, he will return for the second round. I'll post a video here of the second round acts, so one way or another you'll catch him...

Thanks again,

Highlights...

Here are my top talents from Saturday's auditions...

What do you think?
Do you agree with me or did another act float your boat?

I loved super-charismatic Jeremy Lynch. He was confident, skillful and really connected with the audience, a true showman.

Whoops, you missed the vid!!

Dean Wilson was just fantastic. His piece from Miss Saigon blew the audience away and I think he's heading for the final.

Whoops, you missed the vid!!

Krista & Charlie (The Cheeky Monkeys) are adorable with a capital A. I was tired just watching them and daren't peep at this video or I'll be exhausted!

Whoops, you missed the vid!!

More soon...

Live Blog - Show 4

Tonight the auditions are in London.
Will a bit of east end charm work wonders?

First up is Eidelweiss Warby (52) and she's going to doggy sing to Phantom of the Opera. Amanda is in fits of giggles and before she can 'woof' the first line, the audience are chanting "OFF, OFF, OFF!" I have to ask, is barking like a dog a talent and would you do it on national television?

Next, Julie Baston tries to woo the judges with her rendition of Madonna's Holiday - but why is she wearing a hula outfit?
Three buzzes come one after the other and Simon is not impressed, "It was like a drunk woman at a hen night". I have to agree!

Third time's anything but a charm as the Dynamic Duo take to the stage. They perform a dry comedy skit that's based on the three judges but when they insult Piers, he buzzes. The other judges quickly follow and Piers snaps, "You're just two little twerps aren't you!" - I didn't get it I'm afraid, bye guys!

Finally a bit of talent! Jeremy Lynch is a football freestyler and he rocks! Having previously been signed for a pro team (who dropped him - fools), he coaches kids and also performs football skills... or perhaps I should call them amazing football feats, there's nothing he can't do with a soccer ball. He performs a dance and skills routine to Beyonce's Crazy in Love and the crowd go wild! Piers and Simon think he's the best act from London so far and Amanda agrees... "It's you, not just your ball skills" - Easy Tiger!
Piers can't help but laugh when Simon says Jeremy's cocky. "Yeah, a bit like someone else we know!" Regardless of his Simonesque qualities, he sails through to the next round - Goal!

MANCHESTER>>>

Krista and Charlie are the Cheeky Monkeys. These eight year old dancers are adorable and they've only been working together for a year. The audience lap it up and if I'm honest, just watching them makes me tired - they're so fast! How many steps can a normal person fit into one verse? If you ask me, these kids have had access to far too much sugar! Simon thinks they're great, but there's a problem... "I think you're better than your routine. You should sack your choreographer". Their instructor is mortified and cringes in the wings. The kids look petrified, but there's no need for them to worry... Simon smiles sneakily and puts them through to the next round. I wonder if he get a kick out of winding up small children?

Did you see the dance troop, High On A Hill? There was only a quick flash of them on the show but they looked great to me. One to look out for in the next round I think!

Leonard Henry Bennett is in his seventies and he's perfected his strongman act over 57 years. He does pull-ups with just two fingers and has weights tied to his waist, the guys a machine! Grumpy Simon buzzes straight away, as he's unsure where the act could go. Amanda disagrees, "I think you could show this once around the world and it would be great - Once is fine!" Luckily for Leonard, Piers agrees and he's through.

How cute are Teddy Prescot, Jack Woodward and Simone Lloyd-Davis. These OAP's are giving the young whipper-snappers a run for their money and the musician, the comic and the belly dancer make it through. BLESS YOU ALL!!

Kay and Harvey are a duo on a mission. Harvey plays keyboards and Kay compares herself to Lesley Garrett, which is a huge claim! As her chosen genre is Italian opera, she starts by explaining the song to the audience and to be honest I think they're a little insulted by that.

I hope she's as good as she claims or the audience could turn...

She starts to sing and the audience chant "OFF" before the fourth line. Simon and Amanda buzz her, but Piers listens happily until the end. "I really enjoyed that, I say yes". Simon looks at him as though he's lost his marbles, "I don't know what was worse, the singing or the horrible keyboard solo in the middle. "BOOOO!" The crowd lash out at Simon and he can't believe their gaul. He addresses the crowd, "How can you boo me after you were shouting off? Just a little two faced!" What can I say Simon? I guess the audience like Harvey!

Simon's such a spoil sport! Melissa Lucas (9) is a sweetheart and she's trying her best to play harmonica and hula-hoop at the same time. It's not my cup of tea either but I feel for her when the judges say no, she looks like she could burst into tears. You keep going with your hula-playing Melissa, take no notice to them!

Dean Wilson is up next and I can't help raising an eyebrow when he says he's performing a piece from Miss Saigon - That's a mean feat (and then some!)
Fortunately for him, he's bloody marvellous! Simon stops him mid-flow and advises that he hates the song, but with nothing else prepared he allows Dean to continue. The young guy isn't phased by the false start and he proceeds to give the performance of his life. He even leaps off stage and continues as the audience give a standing ovation!

Simon says, "I don't think I've ever seen anyone with such conviction in an audition. That's probably the best we've seen yet!" As Dean literally leaps from the stage, Simon leans over and says three words... "Pure star quality!" It doesn't get better than that Deano!

I guess we have to remember that the winner of Britain's Got Talent could be classical, popular, contemporary, musical, theatrical or comedic. With a performer like Dean heading for the final, maybe the BBC's theatrical talent shows need to watch out.

What do you think about this theatrical twist and which act tickled your fancy?
